What is Waste Heat Recovery and how does it work?
It is the collection of heat created as an undesired by-product of the operation or process of a piece of equipment or machinery to fulfill a desired purpose elsewhere using a waste heat recovery unit (WHRU). A waste heat recovery unit is an energy exchange recovery unit that recovers heat from the exhaust or processes that contain potential high energy content and can be used for further processes such as driving a turbine for energy production.

Put simply, a waste heat recovery solution converts excess heat into additional renewable power.
Industrial waste heat could reduce fossil fuel demands in the short term and improve efficiency of countless manufacturing processes.
The United States Department reported that up to 50 percent of the energy from all fuels burned in the U.S. ends up in the atmosphere as waste heat. Also, research indicates that recovery of the energy waste from industrial facilities could fulfill up to 20 percent of the total domestic electricity demands.
Before The Lights Go Out in South Africa’s Heavy Industry
If you are a South African resident, have the luxury of access to electrical power and can enjoy television, you will be no stranger to frequent advertisements that remind viewers to be economical in their use of electricity. The campaign is on behalf of the Electricity Supply Commission, universally known as Eskom, the state-owned firm that produces 95% of South Africa’s electricity. Recognized as one of Africa’s leading emerging markets, South Africa’s heavy industry and mining sectors are in need of a more efficient power supply. Waste Heat Recovery Solutions provided by USP&E Africa would be a step forward in the right direction for firms that are seeking to improve production and have a better primary or secondary power for their business operations.
